Intro
Cooking is the single most important skill in Runescape. Everyone needs food to live, and that's what this
skill provides. You won't be able to make the best food that heals 20 hp right from the start, but it doesn't take long before
you get up there. When making food there's also a possibility (like with most other skills) that you fail. This will result
in you burning the food, and making it worthless. The better cooking level you gain, the less food you will burn.
Basics
Getting flour
There's two ways of getting flour:
- Go to the Port Sarim cooking store and buy it.
- Find a pot. These can be bought in the general stores, or you can make them yourself in crafting.
Go to a field with
wheat, I recommend either Lumbridge or north of Yanille, pick some of it. Now go to a windmill, and go all the way to the
top. Use your grain (from the wheat picking) on the hopper, and operate the hopper controls. Go down stairs and use your
pot on the flour.
Getting water
- Find yourself a jug or a bucket. These can both be bought in the general store.
- Go to a sink or fountain, and use your jug/bucket on it. If you have a bucket, you can use a well as your water source
as well.
Pots, pie dishes and bowls.
- These items can all be made using the skill crafting. Pots can be bought in the general stores and pie dishes respawn
in the dwarven mine at the pickaxe salesman.
Cooking/baking
Cooking food can be done in 2 ways. Either get your axe out of the bank, chop some trees and light the logs
with a tinderbox, or simply find a range. Ranges are market with this icon on the world map: . Note that it's only meat and fish that can be cooked on fires.
Pies
- Mix flour and water and make 'pastry dough'.
- Use the pastry dough with a pie dish.
- Now add the content you want.
- Redberry: You can buy this in the Port Sarim cooking shop, or find them at their respawn
south of Varrock. - Meat: Kill a cow, bear or chicken and cook the meat. - Apple: Apples can be found on the cooking
guilds' first floor. The guild is located east of Varrock, and you need lvl 32 cooking to get in.
- Bake it.

If you want some filling on, add it after you baked the pizza. - Meat: Kill a chicken, bear or cow
and cook the meat they drop, then use it on the pizza. - Anchovies: Fish with a net, cook them and use them on the pizza. -
Pineapple: Go to the jungle area south of Brimhaven and find a pineapple plant, pick the pineapples, use a knife on the pineapple
and make dices. Use them on the pizza.
